Frustration. A Sense of Deja Vu. Outrage.
But not surprise.
Those are some of the sentiments the AKA team felt after reading the FDA’s webpage updated post “FDA & Kratom.” There the FDA once again declared kratom in America unlawful in their viewpoint and announced their intent to remove access to kratom in America.
From the page: “Kratom is not appropriate for use as a dietary conventional supplement…Further, FDA has determined that kratom, when added to food, is an unsafe food additive…
Based on these determinations by FDA, kratom is not lawfully marketed as a dietary supplement and cannot be lawfully added to conventional foods.
Therefore, kratom is not lawfully marketed in the U.S. as a drug product, a dietary supplement, or a food additive in conventional food.” Full page here

The FDA is publicly pushing again for Federal action against kratom, and obviously will continue to tell state officials to ban and criminalize kratom.
This is wrong for so many reasons, not least of which because on the FDA’s own site they state “FDA recognizes that there is much that is not known scientifically about kratom.”
We need your support because without us collectively pushing back, kratom will be criminalized. The FDA is declaring it unlawful and is actively working to seize products; so who is left to stop them if we don’t keep working together?
