Colorado State Kratom Laws

Colorado State Capitol Building

Kratom is legal in Colorado, although with some minor exceptions. Denver requires labels with a consumer advisory warning, and Castle Rock recently imposed an age limit to purchase of 21. In addition, the cities of Parker and Monument have banned kratom sales—though possession is still allowed.

The Colorado Kratom Consumer Protection Act was signed in May of 2022 and will take effect by July 2023.

SB22-120

Now that there’s a state-wide legal framework for handling kratom, the hope is that these citywide restrictions will be lifted and that others will be prevented.

Advocates are actively working so that kratom remains legal.

If you would like to help protect kratom please look into the American Kratom Association. The AKA has organized the American Kratom Protectors. They are a national grassroots organization that will help lead the advocacy efforts as we fight state bans, share correct information about kratom, and push passage of state and federal Kratom Consumer Protection Acts.
