Yesterday was an INCREDIBLY active day so let’s get to it with the latest updates:
|
- Arkansas Hearing: The American Kratom Association is thrilled to announce that the Arkansas Kratom Consumer Protection Act, SB534, took a major step forward with a unanimous “do pass” recommendation by the Senate Public Health, Welfare and Labor Committee. The AKA legislative team and scientists were on-site yesterday and have been working in Arkansas for years to try and replace criminalization with consumer protection. Still a long way to go but great progress.
- Mississippi House & Senate passed the KCPA Conference Report. 114-0 in the House and 49-1 in the Senate. Mississippi has had lots of ongoing proposed kratom legislation this session, most of it bad, but has passed the KCPA Conference Report. The Botanics for Better Health and Wellness group has worked hard with the AKA team in Mississippi to protect consumers and help pass this legislation. It now goes to the Governor.
- The Texas ban bill is still active but remains in Committee after the hearing on March 27th. It has strong chance of passing the Committee and the Senate, but the AKA and Texas kratom advocates are working hard to educate legislators to stop it in the House.
- Florida held a hearing in Committee on a new and terrible kratom regulation bill. Thank you to all the amazing advocates who came to testify! Unfortunately the Committee only allowed each person to speak incredibly briefly and the Bill passed out of Committee. This terrible bill that’s very misleadingly called a new “KCPA” for Florida still has a long way to go before it is fully passed and enacted, but we will all need to keep fighting it
- All Florida advocates are encouraged to sign the petition at Protectkratom.org/florida and use the second form to message officials

The AKA resources are stretched precariously thin fighting bans across America, in addition to trying to reverse the stubborn six like those in Arkansas, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin.
Please donate if you can to help protect kratom consumers and stop criminalization!
