Rhode Island State Kratom Laws

Kratom is legal in the state of Rhode Island and follows a KCPA.

In 2025, Rhode Island set a historic milestone for the kratom community: Governor Dan McKee signed into law the Rhode Island Kratom Consumer Protection Act (KCPA)—officially overturning the state’s longstanding ban on kratom.

In addition to Rhode Island being the 18th state to pass a KCPA bill, this victory marks the first time a state has repealed a kratom ban originally enacted at the urging of the FDA. The Rhode Island ban had been in place since 2017.

If you would like to help protect kratom please look into the American Kratom Association. The AKA has organized the American Kratom Protectors. They are a national grassroots organization that will help lead the advocacy efforts as we fight state bans, share correct information about kratom, and push passage of state and federal Kratom Consumer Protection Acts.
